西班牙&E is currently upgrading the 博雷戈泉微电网 to operate with 100% clean energy, which is supplied by two local solar farms and ample customer rooftop systems. 西班牙&E也在转换多余的太阳能, 是在博雷戈斯普林斯产生的, to hydrogen that can be stored on-site and provide reserve energy for up to eight hours.

An electrolyzer will produce hydrogen when solar energy is abundant on the local circuit, and a fuel cell will convert the hydrogen to electricity when needed by customers to strengthen electric service reliability and community resiliency.

Clean hydrogen will be produced using excess solar power from the local solar farm and rooftop systems. Water used to produce hydrogen will be the equivalent of what is used in a standard American home. The clean hydrogen will then be stored in tanks and converted back to electricity when needed by emissions-free fuel cells. 当能源需求高的时候, the energy reserve can be made available for dispatch by the microgrid or the California Independent System Operator (CAISO) to support grid reliability.

When the microgrid was used during an actual power emergency, it gave 西班牙&E and our customers a glimpse of a “utility of the future” — one in which the grid itself can respond to outages by routing and restoring power where it’s most needed, 给居民带来生机活力, 而且很有可能在这个过程中挽救生命.

Cameron Corners is a remote community located in southeastern San Diego County.
